Jess and Jules Visits Swansea

Today The Swansea College of Art, Surface Pattern, had the good fortune to meet bespoke designers Jess and Jules. Prior to their visit, Jess and Jules had set a live brief, exclusive to Swansea Surface Pattern Designers only, to creatively respond to their theme 'What Lies Beneath' we were given a Pinterest board full of images and inspiration to help push us in the right direction.

As part of our Enterprise and Employability module, Jess and Jules were kind enough to pitch a presentation on their 'story'. Jess and Jules stressed the importance to find a narrative within your work and tell your story, how did you get to where you are now? Creating a story within your work personalises the project which will then make it more engaging, creating more depth to designs.

After the presentation Jess and Jules were invited back to our Surface Pattern studio to have a look at students work. When showing my own work to Jess and Jules, I received a volume of positive feedback, giving me more confidence and excitement for the last couple of weeks of the competition. I look forward to seeing where my drawings are heading and how I will finalise my designs in relation to the given brief.
